Essentials for Orientation
Orientation is an introduction to life and learning at Wright State University. Pre-registration is required. Here's the info you need to know BEFORE registering for the event.
Orientation is required
All students under the age 23 who have never attended college are required to attend Orientation. If you have 24 or more credit hours, please contact University College at (937) 775-5750 to inquire about your Orientation and registration options.
Don't forget your placements tests
You must have completed your Math (in person) and English (online) placement tests AT LEAST 10 business days before your Orientation date. These must be completed in order to register for Fall Quarter classes. There is also a short, computerized foreign language placement test, which is required if you plan to study French, German, or Spanish at Wright State.
Students in the Post-Secondary Enrollment Option Program (PSEO) or Honors Program
If you have earned college credits through the PSEO, you will still need to attend Orientation. If you have been accepted into the Honors Program, there are special Orientation sessions just for you! Look for it in the drop-down list when you register.
Pre-service interview for students with disabilities
Don't forget to contact the Office of Disability Services to schedule your pre-service interview. The pre-service interview is designed to assess disability-related needs and to plan services accordingly. Students are encouraged to contact the Office of Disability services well in advance (at least six months, if possible) of their planned entry date. Learning Communities
When you register, you will be asked to select your top choices for your Learning Community. A Learning Community is a group of 20 to 25 first-year students who take two or more classes together. All of the students in your Learning Community share a similar program of study or other interest. Together, you will explore career options and learn about campus programs and services. Choose which one sounds best to you when you register. Don't worry, though, you can always change it later (space permitting).
Parents, spouse, or other family members welcome!
Your parents or other family members are encouraged to come along with you, as they are an important part of most students' support system. You and two guests are included in your $75 registration fee. You may bring additional guests for $10 each. Be sure to have your method of payment available when you register.

Parents as Partners is the best way for your family to stay in touch with what's going on in campus life and how they can best help you reach your goals. Best parts about Orientation?
You get to connect with some current students, other new students, and you also receive your Wright1 Card student ID (new Wright State students only). Your Wright1Card identifies you as a Raider and also entitles you to student discounts at places like movies theaters. You will also confirm your Fall Quarter schedule and learn about course selection, academic advising, student services, computer accounts, and student life.
