WSU Shortcodes allow you to add increased functionality to your pages using short snippets of code with a few attributes. This section of documentation works to describe all current WSU Shortcodes and their attributes. Over time it is likely that these codes will expand and change as our needs on specific site builds necessitate. If there is a feature you are looking to implement on your site that is not available here, please do not hesitate to ask. You can simply submit your request as a support ticket for the website.
While we try to make the WSU Shortcodes as easy to use as possible there is quite a bit of potential error that can be introduced by copying and pasting code into your pages. If you run into problems you can always bring your page back to a previous revision and start over which is sometimes better than trying to figure out what is broken if it could be multiple things.
Inserting Short Codes
1. Find your "Insert Short Code" button to the far right in your WYSIWYG
2. When you click the button you will be presented with a drop down menu with all of our shortcode options
3. Choose what ever one you want and hit the insert button
4. The basic syntax of the short code is placed into your WYSIWYG editor. You'll still need to add the necessary attributes to make it function. As an example, when I choose video I am presented with this portion of the short code:
It is still up to me to fill out the URL portion and change any of the other attributes like size or caption to what I want. If you're curious about all the different short codes then proceed to the advanced WYSIWYG editing portion of this guide! Every shortcode is different with different attributes. If you have any questions about them, feel free to contact us any time, and we will gladly help out.
