Understanding the Psychosocial Development of the Adolescent

This audio streamed lecture and handout of slides presents an overview of the developmental tasks of adolescence in terms of what they need to achieve to move on successfully to adulthood. The material in this module was originally developed through the Center for Continuing Education in Adolescent Health at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio funded in part through a grant from the Maternal Child Health Program (#MCJ393A04) of HRSA in the USDHHS. Subsequent revisions were supported by a grant from the Ohio Department of Health. This module can be used to prepare a pre-licensure nursing student for clinical practice, as a basis for parent or professional education regarding adolescent needs, as a supplement to classroom teaching, or for staff development of anyone who is interacting with adolescents. This material was prepared by Ms. Dawn Nebrig, LSW of CCEAH and Dr. Susan Praeger, faculty in the Wright State University-Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health.
