Nursing Care of Individual Experiencing Crisis or Risk for Suicide

This audio streamed lecture and handout cover the nursing care of individuals experiencing a crisis or at risk for suicide. It covers characteristics of a crisis situation, goals for crisis intervention and stabilization, the steps involved in crisis intervention and intervention strategies. In addition, common myths of suicide, risk for suicide and the therapeutic milieu for a client on suicide precautions are discussed. It can be used to prepare a pre-licensure nursing student for clinical practice, or as a supplement to classroom teaching.
