Will I get credit for my diploma nursing courses?
Yes, if you graduated from a diploma school of nursing, you will
receive 53.5 credits for your nursing knowledge. Those credits will
be posted to your Wright State University official transcript after
your successful completion of NUR 308 after the first quarter of
nursing in the RN-BSN curriculum.
Can I "challenge" out of any courses?
If you do not transfer in courses in nutrition or pharmacology, we
offer the NLN exams in nutrition and pharmacology at a nominal fee.
You earn credits for the courses by successfully passing these
exams.
Which option: Classroom or Online would be better for me?
The IVDL (Interactive Video Distance Learning) Classroom option
works best for nurses who can schedule one consistent day off from
their work each week, who live close enough to drive to one of the
locations (WSU main campus, Lake Campus, or other designated locations). The advantages include
the face-to-face support of classmates and faculty, the ability to
interact on that day to have questions answered and to share ideas
spontaneously in class, the familiar learning environment of a
classroom.
The Online option works best for nurses who have an unpredictable
schedule, who live at a distance from the campus locations,
and who are willing to interact several times each week via their
computer and internet connection. Online students should be willing
to invest in up-to-date computer equipment and connectivity to make
the online experience function well. Being able to type is a
definite advantage to students in the online option.
Both options will assist the student in becoming computer savvy in
terms of writing papers, responding to e-mails, learning to use the
computer for specific programs such as word processing,
presentations, spreadsheets, and accessing information via online
library resources.
How long will it take to complete the program?
The nursing courses can be completed by taking two courses a quarter
over seven consecutive quarters. Each student varies in terms of how
many additional prerequisite courses must be completed prior to
starting the nursing courses, and in terms of how many general
education, support courses, and free elective credits they may need
to complete the requirements for graduation.
What if I am an RN with a bachelor's degree but not a
BSN?

the RN with a bachelor degree in another field who is interested in
"bridging" into our masters in nursing program. Please view the

Bridge program here.
