About the RN-BSN Completion Program
Meeting the needs of today's nurse
The RN-BSN
Completion Program was designed for Registered Nurses who have an
Associate Degree or Diploma in nursing to complete a BSN in a
challenging, flexible program of study that accommodates nurses' typical work schedules. The program is designed to sharpen critical
thinking skills and strengthen conceptual and theoretical nursing
knowledge. Emphasis is placed on increasing professional autonomy
and empowerment. The program provides a foundation for graduate
study in nursing.
Credit
for prior education

The RN-BSN
Completion Program recognizes the diverse educational backgrounds of nurses who
wish to complete the BSN degree. Nurses returning to school receive
credit for prior nursing education through the associate degree or
diploma curriculum.
Options are available for traditional classroom or Online Delivery.
The classroom learning program is offered one day per week by teleconferencing at three
campuses: Wright State University Campus in Dayton, Lake Campus in
Celina, and Miami Valley Hospital.
This IVDL (Interactive Video Distance Learning) Classroom option
allows both audio and video interaction with fellow classmates and
faculty at the three sites. The structure of having all classes
offered on the same day of the week throughout the program allows
students to plan work schedules in advance.
The Online
option allows students the flexibility of taking nursing courses any
time or any place with the aid of a computer and Internet access.
The interactive program incorporates multimedia, graphics, online
discussion groups, case studies, and group work with virtual
classmates and guest experts.
Clinical Experiences
The RN-BSN
Completion Program has two clinical courses. Students can make
arrangements with clinical preceptors in their area to complete the
required public health nursing experience and the synthesis practicum. In
the public health nursing course, students work in a variety of public
health settings, focusing on nursing care for aggregate populations.
The synthesis practicum provides the opportunity for students to
work closely with a preceptor to gain knowledge and experience in a
role appropriate for nurses prepared at the baccalaureate level.
