Family Nurse Practitioner Master's Program
Second Masters Option
Wright State University College of Nursing and Health
offers a program leading to a second master's degree with a concentration
as a Family Nurse Practitioner. The purpose of the program is to provide a
convenient, cost effective opportunity for the master's prepared nurse to
become a primary care provider and to be able to sit for the national
certification exam as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Students in the second
master's program will be required to attend classes on campus in a
one-week session in the spring, fall, and winter, and one final session
which will consist of a two-day seminar at graduation (spring quarter).
Some courses may be completed online. Clinicals may be completed at a
convenient location to the student. Click here to view the second masters curriculum plan.
Admission Criteria
Each applicant is reviewed by an admissions committee. Previous
academic achievement, balanced academic background, employment experience,
employer recommendation and written responses to essay questions on
application are required of each applicant. A personal interview will be
required for those applicants in the final selection pool after review of
submitted documents is completed. Factors considered in the essays and
interviews are leadership potential, motivation, ability to express ideas

Compatibility between expressed career goals and program goals is weighted
heavily.
