The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Wright State University is four academic years in length and prepares professional graduates who are eligible to sit for the Registered Nurse National Licensure Examination. The program is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing and fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Registered nurses with diplomas or associates degrees can find information on the RN-BSN link.

The baccalaureate degree in nursing prepares students for many diverse and dynamic career paths in a variety of health care settings. The American Nurses Association, the National League for Nursing and other nursing organizations strongly support baccalaureate education as the entry point for professional nursing.


Admission to WSU-CoNH

Applicants should submit a formal application for admission to the college by June 30 for fall admission and December 30 for spring admission. Applications received after these dates will be reviewed on a space available basis.  Click here to download the application form.


Admission Requirements

The College of Nursing and Health invites students interested in a challenging profession in health care to submit an application to the college for fall or spring quarter admission. Entry into this competitive program starts with admission to Wright State University as a degree seeking student.

Students are eligible to apply for admission to the nursing program after successful completion of 48 quarter credit hours in prerequisite courses with a minimum grade point average of 2.5. In reviewing applications, the Admissions Committee looks for evidence of sound academic preparation, character, maturity, and the ability to perform functions required in the practice of nursing.  Two sample curricular patterns are included for the spring and fall entry tracks to complete the Traditional BSN Program of study. Prerequisite Coursework

Applicants must have earned a grade of "C" or better in all prerequisite courses (total of 48 quarter credit hours). These courses which include the following courses or their equivalent must be completed by the application deadline dates: Click here for a list of the prerequisites.

    * Waived for students who have completed one year of high school chemistry with a "C" or better.

  1. You must be accepted as a degree seeking student to Wright State University. It is your responsibility to make sure all transcripts from all educational programs attended have been received by Wright State University and that you are eligible to register for classes the quarter for which you are applying.
  2. A grade of “C” or better is required in all prerequisite courses (NOTE: A science course can be repeated one time only; a maximum of two science courses can be repeated. All natural science courses must have been completed in the last ten years.)
  3. You must have completed all prerequisite courses with a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average. You must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5. Due to enrollment limits (maximum of 80-90 per admission period) admission will be competitive based on cumulative grade point average.
  4. Attach to this application a written statement of 250 words or less describing life experiences you bring to nursing that would foster your success in the profession. You may wish to address issues such as high school activities, volunteer activities, work experiences, parenting experience, or other life experiences that make you uniquely qualified and motivated for success in the profession of nursing. The essays are used for informational purposes only and not for admission decisions.
  5. Please take note of the course requirements listed on the back of this page. All of these courses must be successfully completed prior to admission to the College of Nursing and Health, i.e., by June 30 or December 30. For students pursuing Track I (80-90 positions), applications must be submitted by JUNE 30 of the year you plan to begin fall quarter nursing classes. You will be notified of the action taken on your application by July 30. For students pursuing Track II (80-90 positions), applications must be submitted by DECEMBER 30 if you plan to begin nursing classes in the spring quarter. You will be notified of the action taken on your application by January 30. You must attach to this application transcripts or web advisor reports verifying successful completion of all prerequisite courses listed on the application.
