THE WOLF IS ON THE PROWL:
NEW WRIGHT STATE LOGO PAYS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Since the new WSU Raider wolf was unveiled last October, the Wright State University athletic mascot has generated a 22 percent increase in royalty revenue over the past fiscal year. As a result, approximately $15,000 in student scholarships provided by the trademark licensing program will be distributed this year. Funded by the 7.5 percent royalty fee received from the sale of the university's official products, scholarships will be given to 16 students selected by the departments of athletics, financial aid and WSU's Lake Campus.

In addition to the wide selection of Raider merchandise available at the Wright State Bookstore, beginning this fall Raider fans can find apparel with the new logo in the J.C. Penney store in the Mall at Fairfield Commons. In addition, the Wright Patt Credit Union now offers checks printed with the Raider Wolf, and Ohio specialty license plates with the new emblem are available from the State of Ohio. Wright State will receive $25 in revenue from the sale of each plate, which goes directly into the scholarship fund.

"With the increase in retail sales and the sales of the plates, we should be able to fund even more scholarships next year," said Sally Clayton, trademark licensing coordinator.
