October 18, 1999 BOYD RECEIVES WSU PRESIDENT'S AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE
Boyd, who has worked at Wright State for 21 years, serves as a mentor to students and point of contact for financial aid guidance. He also gives financial aid presentations to prospective students at Miami Valley high schools.
"Willie is sought to participate in such a variety of committees and campus activities, demonstrating the respect the Wright State community has for his honest, diverse and fair assessment of issues," said Marcella Glenn, assistant director of financial aid.
Boyd has been a volunteer in the Black Male Mentoring Program since its inception, and was voted in a 1998 Black Student Union survey of students as one of the "Most Admired Black Males" at Wright State.
"His genuine care for others is truly demonstrated by his commitment to students and by his participation on a variety of campus and community organizations and events," said Victoria Oleen, managing director of the Department of Theatre Arts, in her letter of recommendation.

Willie Boyd, associate director for financial aid at Wright State University, is the recipient of the President's Award for Excellence in Human Relations. The award, presented at an annual ceremony by President Kim Goldenberg, recognizes staff members for showing innovation, creativity, initiative and excellence, that has significantly improved the quality of life at Wright State University.
