SWEENEY NAMED PRESIDENT OF
WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY'S FACULTY

Robert J. Sweeney, Ph.D., chair and professor of the Department of Finance and Financial Services in the College of Business and Administration, has been elected president of the faculty at Wright State University by his peers.

As president of the faculty, Sweeney chairs the WSU Faculty Senate, which provides a collective faculty voice on academic concerns and issues of professional concern to the 708-member faculty. He also chairs the inauguration committee planning the upcoming swearing in of Kim Goldenberg, Wright State's newest president.

Sweeney began teaching at Wright State in 1989 as an assistant professor. This year he was named full professor. He is currently serving his second term as chair of the Department of Finance and Financial Service. He was named Outstanding Finance Professor three times, and in 1995, received the WSU Teaching Excellence Award, given to one professor by the WSU Alumni Association each year.

A resident of Pleasant Hill, Sweeney received his B.S. in accountancy and his M.B.A. in finance from Wright State. He received his Ph.D. in finance from the University of South Carolina in 1985.

Active in at least six finance associations and several university committees, Sweeney also volunteers for Hospice of Miami County.
