STANDARD REGISTER COMMITS $250,000
FOR SCHOLARSHIPS TO WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY
Standard Register has committed $250,000 over the next five years to continue funding
Standard Register's Scholarships for students graduating from Wright State University's
Engineering Preparation Program, Wright STEPP. Since the scholarship was established by
Standard Register in 1993, 37 students have received four-year, full-tuition scholarships to
Wright State University.
Wright STEPP, a pre-college program begun in 1988, is offered in collaboration with Dayton
Public Schools, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and local industries. It targets minority and
female junior high and high school students and prepares them to pursue college degrees
and careers in engineering, science and math-related fields. During the four weeks of this
rapidly growing summer program, students in grades 7 to 10 pursue a rigorous academic
curriculum, gain hands-on experience in the laboratory, interact with role models and learn
about the many career opportunities open to them.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must complete the Wright STEPP Program and
graduate from a college preparatory high school curriculum with a 3.0 grade-point average.
Wright STEPP has become the first step toward a bright and successful future for many
female and minority students. The scholarship fund is Standard Register's investment in the
youth of Dayton. For more information about Wright STEPP and the Standard Register
Scholarship, contact Giorgio McBeath, assistant dean of the College of Engineering and
Computer Science, at (937) 775-5001.
