SUSAN SMITH NEWLY APPOINTED
WSU DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI RELATIONS

Susan Smith, former Wright State University director of annual giving, has been appointed WSU's new director of alumni relations. Her responsibilities include keeping alumni actively involved in the Wright State University community as well as working closely with the Wright State University Alumni Association.

Smith, who earned a B.A. degree in communication from Wright State, has been a staff member for 17 years. She has served as associate director of corporate and foundation relations, manager of development research, library associate and senior library media assistant during her time at Wright State.

"I'd like to build bridges back to the university," Smith said. "My staff and I intend to develop and offer strong programming to attract increased alumni interest and participation. We want to highlight the fact that Wright State University has much to offer our graduates. It is also our aim to become more visible to current students and encourage their involvement in alumni activities before they graduate."

Wright State University has more than 55,000 alumni. Approximately half that number live in the Miami Valley, and about 40,000 WSU alumni live in Ohio. Significant numbers of alumni also reside in the District of Columbia, Texas, Florida, Indiana and Kentucky. Alumni raise money for scholarships for Wright State students and provide financial support for advances in technology, student services and university-community partnerships.
