Marcia G. Muller has been appointed Wright State University's vice president for university advancement, effective July 19. As head of the 40-person division, her responsibilities will include directing the Offices of Alumni Relations, Government Relations, Communications and Marketing, and University Development. Muller will also serve as president of the WSU Foundation, Inc.

Muller comes to Wright State from New Mexico State University where she has been vice president for university advancement since 1990. In that position, Muller increased university endowments from $12.5 million to $45 million, set new records for generating philanthropic gifts, tripled the number of major gifts received each year and developed and implemented an aggressive marketing program. She has also held leadership positions at Long Island University, the University of Miami, Fla., and the University of California, Irvine.

"Mrs. Muller's previous experience includes playing an instrumental role in a five-year capital campaign at the University of Miami. This campaign was the second largest in the nation at that time, and won a national achievement award," said Wright State President Kim Goldenberg. "She emerged as a finalist for the Wright State vice presidency from a pool of more than 100 distinguished applicants."

Muller holds a master's degree in English from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in political science from Albion College, Mich.
