WRIGHT STATE RECEIVES HONORS
AT MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE
Wright State University's student delegation was recently honored as "Best Delegation" at the fifth annual Dayton Model United Nations Conference. The conference, held at the David Ponitz Center on the campus of Sinclair Community College, attracted twelve universities and colleges from four states. These included Indiana University, Ohio University, Ohio Northern University, University of Dayton, University of Pittsburgh, Wright State University and Sinclair Community College.
Several Wright State students received special honors at the conference. Gretchen Eischen, of Fairborn, was named runner-up, Best Delegate, Security Council. Christopher Green, of Dayton, received an honorable mention, Security Council. Amy Wright, of Springfield, received the Best Delegate award, Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Jen Bantel, of Dayton, and Elizabeth Conzo, of Fairborn, received honorable mentions, ECOSOC. Arancha Lattanzio, of Fairborn, was named Best Delegate, Human Rights Commission. Videt Norng, of Dayton, and Jen Brewer, of Hiram, received honorable mentions, Human Rights Commission. Todd Trickler, of Bellbrook, received an honorable mention, Security Council Crisis Simulation.
Ohio Treasurer Kenneth Blackwell was the Keynote speaker at the conference which simulated four United Nations committees and examined an array of human rights issues, as 1998 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In April, Wright State will send a delegation of 37 students to the National Collegiate Model United Nations Conference, in New York, where they will represent the foreign policy of the United Kingdom.
