MCBEATH RECEIVES WSU PRESIDENT'S AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE

Hi-Res Image Giorgio McBeath, assistant dean in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Wright State University, is the recipient of the President's Award for Excellence in Innovation. The award, presented at an annual ceremony by WSU President Kim Goldenberg, was given to McBeath for encouraging minority and female junior and senior high school students to pursue degrees and careers in engineering, science and math.

McBeath is the director of the Wright STEPP program, a precollege program offered in collaboration with Dayton Public Schools, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and local industries. He has also spoken to students participating in the Glimpse of College (GOC) program, a campus visitation program that provides African American students an indepth review of Wright State University.

"McBeath has demonstrated a strong interest in increasing the academic quality and number of African American students who matriculate to WSU with an interest in engineering," said David C. McGuire, assistant director of admissions.
