WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY NAMES NEW CHAIR
OF BIOMEDICAL AND HUMAN FACTORS ENGINEERING

Wright State University has named Richard Koubek, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Biomedical and Human Factors Engineering. Koubek comes to Wright State from Purdue University's Industrial Engineering Department, where he was a faculty member.

Koubek is the editor of the International Journal of Cognitive Ergonomics and is an editorial board member of both the International Journal of Human Factors in Manufacturing and the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction. He has served as conference chair of the Fifth International Conference on Human Aspects of Advanced Manufacturing and Hybrid Automation and is the co-editor of the books, Design of Computing Systems: Cognitive Considerations and Design of Computing Systems: Social and Ergonomic Considerations. Koubek has won such awards as the 1995 Pritsker Outstanding Teacher Award in the Purdue University School of Industrial Engineering and the 1991 Teacher of the Year in the Wright State University College of Engineering.

The Wright State University Department of Biomedical and Human Factors Engineering is the only department in the nation that offers an undergraduate degree in human factors engineering, accredited by the American Board of Engineering Technology (ABET).
