Hi-Res Image Scott Kissell, Wright State University photographer, is the recipient of the WSU President's Award for Excellence in Service. The award, presented at an annual ceremony by WSU President Kim Goldenberg, recognizes staff members for showing innovation, creativity, initiative and excellence that has significantly improved the quality of life at Wright State University.

Kissell, who is a 1986 Wright State alumni with a degree in geography, joined the WSU staff in 1995, after several years as a staff photographer on the Springfield News-Sun. He takes photographs for the university's Internet homepage, admission brochures, advertising and more. He has also photographed all five of Wright State University's presidents.

"As the sole university photographer, Kissell is a consistent fixture at all university events, from commencement to athletics," said Dan DeStephen, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, in his letter nominating Kissell for the award. "At all hours of the day and night, Kissell is present at every university function to document in pictures the events that define the university."

Last year, Kissell was awarded a bronze medal by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education for his photographic portrayal of university events. He has also won second place awards in publications and personal vision, and third place in sports photography from the University Photographer's Association last year. "I especially enjoy the fast-paced action of Raider basketball," says Kissell, who is court-side at every game.
