WRIGHT STATE NURSING PROFESSOR NAMED DISTRICT 10
NURSE OF THE YEAR BY OHIO NURSES ASSOCIATION
Margaret Clark Graham, Ph.D., RN, has been named "Nurse of the Year" by District 10 of the Ohio Nurses Association (ONA).
An associate professor of nursing and director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program in Wright State University's College of Nursing and Health (CONH), Graham received a plaque at the district's spring award dinner in May.
"This award is for doing what I like doing most, and that is being a nurse," said Graham, who has taught at Wright State for a total of 11 years. "I feel especially honored to be acknowledged by my peers."
Graham was involved early on in the move to enhance the capabilities of advanced practice nurses in this state and was also instrumental in the establishment of the pilot projects for advanced practice nurses. "Her contributions have changed nursing in the state of Ohio and will have far reaching effects for years to come," said Kimberly Hickock, a clinical instructor at Wright State and a member of the ONA district 10 board of directors.
The 1998 recipient of Wright State's Presidential Award for Excellence in Professional Service, Graham also received the 1997–98 Graduate Teaching Excellence Award from the CONH. Graham received her Ph.D. in community health education and preventive medicine from The Ohio State University in 1989. Her master's degree is from Vanderbilt University.
The ONA, with headquarters in Columbus, is the professional organization for Ohio's registered nurses, working since 1904 to improve the health of all Ohioans. District 10 is comprised of eight counties in southwest Ohio.
