WSU CAREER SERVICES OFFICE SEES
GREAT JOB PROSPECTS FOR 1998 GRADS

Today's low unemployment rate means great job prospects for college graduates, according to Brian Maxwell, associate director of Career Services at Wright State University. On-campus recruiting visits to Wright State from employers increased by 31 percent this year.

In the tight job market, most employers are coming to campus in the fall to interview spring graduates, Maxwell says. That allows companies to make their job offers sooner, and gives many graduates a sense of relief in knowing where they will be going after graduation.

Graduates of WSU's College of Engineering and Computer Science are still in demand. WSU College of Liberal Arts graduates in fields such as psychology, sociology and political science are finding more career options in marketing, sales, health-related professions and nonprofit organizations.

"They have a lot to offer," Maxwell says of liberal arts graduates. "They're well rounded and extremely adaptable."

Wright State's Office of Career Services works with companies to match job openings with qualified graduates through the university's free resume referral service. Another WSU program, Boot Camp, allows sophomores and juniors to conduct mock job interviews with area companies. Approximately 100 students and 19 employers participated in this year's Boot Camp, which included a business etiquette luncheon and tips on job searching and how to dress for job interviews.
