WSU ETHICS BOWL TEAM TAKES
ROOKIE AWARD AT NATIONAL COMPETITION

Wright State University's first undergraduate Ethics Bowl Team earned the Rookie Team Award of the Year at the Fourth Annual Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl. The only novice team to place in the top five rankings, Wright State was among 18 universities participating in the national competition at the annual meeting of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics in Dallas, Texas, in late February.

For the past four years, the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl has brought together teams of three to five undergraduate students to compete in a timed, critical reasoning contest. Coordinated by the Illinois Institute of Technology and sponsored by Sears, Roebuck and Co., the Ethics Bowl poses complex moral scenarios on a wide range of controversial topics that people face as family members, employees and citizens.

"The goal is to create a forum where students are challenged to improve their judgment integrity by analyzing diverse ethics issues in depth and practicing argumentation skills they'll need to be publicly accountable for their decisions," said Joseph A. Petrick, Ph.D., associate professor of management and coach of Wright State's team.

The members of Wright State's team were: Sandra Kube, senior communications major; David Ronald, senior philosophy major; and Adrienn Schavland, senior economics major.
