WRIGHT STATE FACULTY VOTE
FOR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

The faculty at Wright State University has voted in favor of collective bargaining and will be represented by the Wright State Chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP).

Of the 411 faculty who were eligible to vote, 197 cast ballots for AAUP representation, 177 cast ballots against collective bargaining and five ballots were challenged.

"From day one, we have said that the faculty has the right to make a free and informed choice about collective bargaining and that we would, as always, respect their decision. Our position has not changed," said Barry O. Johnson, assistant vice president for Communications and Marketing. "Now that the faculty has voted in favor of collective bargaining, we will work within the confines of the law and negotiate in good faith. That's our responsibility as an employer."
