Faculty and Staff Notes

Jeffery Allen, professional psychology, with Julie Suhr, Janet Grace, Jodi Nadler and Maria McKenna, co-authored the article, "Quantitative and Qualitative Performance of Stroke Versus Normal Elderly on Six Clock Drawing Systems," which was published in the Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology.
Allen was also recently certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Thomas Whissen, English (emeritus), has had his latest book, Guide to American Cinema, 1930-1965, published by Greenwood Press of Westport, Conn.

Ron Helms, education and human services, presented his paper, "Global Interaction on the World Wide Web" at the International Sister Cities Conference in Miami Beach, Fla., on July 30. Helms was also presented with an award for outstanding contribution to the Sister Cities Program.

Bruce Cromer, theatre arts, finished his fourth season with the Santa Fe Stages International Theatre Festival this summer, doing fight direction for Macbeth and Chicago. He then attended the Teacher's Training Workshop at Las Vegas of the Society of American Fight Directors and was certified as a stage combat instructor. For the second year, he will be playing Bob Cratchit in the Cincinnati Playhouse's upcoming production of A Christmas Carol.

Randy A. Sansone, psychiatry, co-authored with Lori A. Sansone and Michael W. Wiederman, the article "Use of Psychological Measures in Primary Care," which was published in the July/August issue of Archives of Family Medicine.

Ulysses Drinks and Robin Suits, communications and marketing, wrote and directed a radio commercial promoting WSU that was named a national winner in the Fourteenth Annual Silver Microphone Award competition. The competition is designed to select the best local and regional radio commercials across the United States.

Scott Kissell, center for teaching and learning, won a bronze medal in the individual photograph category of the 1998 Circle of Excellence Award Program for Alumni Relations and Communications, sponsored annually by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Kissell also won four awards during the 37th Annual Photography Competition conducted by the University Photographer's Association of America. He won second place in the publications and personal vision categories, third place in sports and honorable mention in the people category.

Dialogue, Wright State's faculty/staff newsletter, won a certificate of merit in the 1998 Prism Award competition sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America, Dayton/Miami Valley Chapter.

J. Gregory Bushong and Kennard S. Brackney, accountancy, co-authored the article "The Pros and Cons of Long-Term Purchase Commitments," published in the summer issue of The Journal of Accounting, Taxation and Finance.
