December 13, 1999 WRIGHT STATE SENIORS RECEIVE COMMANDING
Five seniors in Wright State University's Army Reserve Office Training Corps (ROTC) have been awarded the "Commanding General's Award For Training Excellence" by Major General Stewart W. Wallace, the commanding general of US Army Cadet Command, for their outstanding performance at Cadet Command's Advanced Camp. Wright State is among only four of 92 schools within the Second Army ROTC Region to receive the prestigious award. Wright State has 39 students enrolled in its Army ROTC program.
The cadets were honored for their performance in a 35-day camp held at Fort Lewis, Washington last summer, where they were evaluated for their physical training, patrolling, land navigation and leadership potential.
General Wallace presented the award at the Second Region Commander's Conference held in Nashville, Tenn. from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2. Army Lieutenant Colonel Ronald E. Fry, professor of military science at Wright State, accepted on behalf of the cadets.
