PATRICA MARTIN NAMED DEAN OF WSU
COLLEGE OF NURSING AND HEALTH

Hi-Res Image Patricia A. Martin, Ph.D., was named dean of the Wright State University-Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health, effective Jan. 1. Martin had served as interim dean since Oct. 5, 1998.

"Dr. Martin has the overwhelming support of our search committee, faculty and staff," said Wright State University President Kim Goldenberg. "Her students hold her in high regard, and many former students have become leaders in their fields."

Martin is a member of the Ohio Nurses Association, a constituent state member of the American Nurses Association. She currently serves as Ohio Nurses Association District 10 president. She has authored more than 100 articles and presentations on issues in statistics, research and nursing administration, and her own research on pre-term infants. She serves on numerous professional, community and academic committees locally and nationally.

In 1999, Martin was selected to participate in the Harvard Institute for Higher Education Management Development Program. The Harvard Institute selects higher education administrators from around the country who demonstrate forward-thinking leadership.

Previously, Martin served as associate professor and director of nursing research at Wright State and as nurse researcher at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. She first joined the WSU faculty in 1984, and has also held visiting and clinical positions at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Cincinnati, where she earned her B.S.N. degree in nursing. Martin joined WSU full-time in 1992. She earned her master's degree in nursing from Wright State and her Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University.
