DEFRAIN NAMED ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT
Douglas DeFrain has joined Wright State as assistant vice president for human resources. DeFrain is the former director of administration and human resources in the Office of the Chancellor at Indiana University.In his new role, DeFrain will manage and direct the human resource function at WSU, including hiring, organization development and training, records, benefits and compensation. While at Indiana University, DeFrain directed the transformation of several essential functions, including the university's food service operations and residence centers. He also served as director of university employee relations, developing human resource policies and practices for 9,000 employees supporting eight campuses.
DeFrain has held human resources management positions at Diamond-Star Motors in Normal, Ill., and in the city governments for Lansing, Mount Clemens and Port Huron in Michigan. He earned a bachelor's degree at Michigan State University in 1970 and a master's degree at Western Michigan University in 1972.
