Wright State University honored more than 2,000 graduates during its spring 2013 commencement ceremony April 27 in the Wright State Nutter Center.

Spring commencement includes 2,063 applications for degrees: 49 associate degrees, 1,302 bachelor’s degrees, 583 master’s and 129 doctoral degrees, including 107 medical degrees.

 

The big day was formal for some and stylishly informal for others. As is customary, Wright State faculty watched proudly as their students achieved their dreams. Thumbs up all the way around the Nutter Center Saturday. Women composed the majority of Wright State's spring graduating class. Each student waited patiently for his or her name to be called. Four-star Air Force General Janet Wolfenbarger was given the honorary doctorate. Wright State is a leader in teacher education. This mortar board identifies one of many education graduates who recieved their master's degree. S. Narayanan said he would remember this commencement forever because it was his first as provost. Wright State graduated over 2,000 students this spring. Graduates were encouraged to savor their accomplishment but also appreciate their support network of family and friends during the special day. Wright State staff members Seth Bauguess and Cory MacPherson were two of many university employees who recieved degrees. Srilatha Pasupuleti smiles as she celebrates getting her MBA. Overcome with shock and joy, many students could not believe the day had finally arrived. There was no shortage of smiles and hugs at spring commencement. After a couple hours of pomp and circumstance, it was time to celebrate. Nursing graduates pitched their customary confetti in celebration. For some students, getting a college degree is truly a dream come true.
