Graduate Teaching Assistantship
in Brass Studies

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Twenty (20) hours per week service to the Department of Music in support of instruction, research, and public service.
• Assisting in the performing, teaching, and administration of University courses in applied and ensemble brass
• In addition, Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) may be assigned additional duties.
• Must be registered for a minimum of six (6) graduate credit hours per semester.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:

An annual stipend of at least $7,500 and a tuition waiver for up to twelve (12) credits per semester of in-state, out-of-state, or international tuition. For current fees, go to http://www.wright.edu/admissions/fees3.html

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Bachelors Degree in Music
• Regular admission to the School of Graduate Studies is needed to become a GTA in the Department of Music. “Regular Admission” means admission to the School of Graduate Studies is not provisional.

DEGREES:

The Department of Music offers three (3) graduate level degrees:

• Master of Music in Music Education with thesis, projects, and recital options
• Master of Music in Performance
• Master of Humanities, with an Emphasis in Music

APPLICATION AND DEADLINE:

To apply for the GTA position, the following materials must be sent to the Department of Music:

• A letter of application
• Three (3) letters of professional recommendation
• Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
• The GTA Application Form*

Application materials must be received by the Department of Music no later than March 1 of the year to which the student is seeking Fall admission.

Wright State University and the Department of Music:

The Department of Music, within the College of Liberal Arts , has over forty faculty and is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. The Department is housed in the Creative Arts Center , along with the Departments of Art & Art History and Theatre Arts. Facilities include a Concert Hall, Recital Hall, studios, offices, practice rooms, and a state-of-the-art computer-MIDI lab.
