What They're Saying About Us ...

On the October 28, 2010 performane with the Wright State University Chamber Orchestra:

I know I speak for Lambert Orkis in saying that it was a pleasure getting to work with you, your faculty and your fine students. Your musicianship and conducting made for a very nice experience in the Tchaikovsky Rococo Variations. I've played this work many times over the past 35 years and I was amazed at how quickly and beautifully it all came together on Thursday! Please send my greetings and thanks to your orchestra.
David Hardy
Principal Cello, National Symphony Orchestra
Professor of Cello, Peabody Conservatory of Music

What wonderful performances! The guest artists were superb and amazing, and the Chamber Orchestra did an excellent job.

On the October 20, 2008 choral performance at the Mad River Vocal Arts Festival.

Last night was phenomenal!  The WSU collegiate choir was so beautiful; it made me want to cry. I was so proud when my son got up to perform with all the other high school choir members...I was astonished at what they had learned in just a short amount of time.  I was bursting with pride.
Ms. Lisa Tussey

On Shelley Jagow’s new textbook, Developing the COMPLETE Band Program.

I read your new book!!! Bravo....what a wonderful publication. This MUST be required for ALL instrumental students at the university level. I don’t believe there are any other publications that address the “entire world” of instrumental music as you do
Ed Lisk, internationally recognized clinician, conductor, and author

It is an incredible resource! I wish I had this 15 years ago when I was working on my degree. Thank you for the attention to detail and for creating a resource that encompasses all aspects of teaching instrumental music.
Ruth Peterson, Bailey Middle School, Cornelius, North Carolina

Just read through your Developing the COMPLETE Band Program book . . . it is just terrific!!!   Great insight on the team-building and administrative aspects!!  I am notifying our bookstore to stock it as a band laboratory text.

On Holidays in the Heartland

Dr. Dahlman----Wonderful concert! What a crowd pleaser!
Pam Miller Howard, audience member

I just wish I could find the words to express how much the Holidays in the Heartland concert meant to me and how much we thoroughly enjoyed it and  how we appreciate all the hard work the WS faculty put into it.  Thank you so much for using your gifts (and putting in all that hard work) for us listeners.  It is truly something we look forward to hearing and we know it will be wonderful.

Mr. William Jobert is truly an asset to your department. He is not only a wonderful person, but he is an excellent teacher.  He cares for his students as human beings as well as students.

About Dr. Brenda Ellis

Dr. Ellis is an outstanding asset to your department and an excellent representative of the university to the community. I applaud you and the WSU administration for her selection as a faculty member at the university. After our annual dinner she and one of your students gave an awesome concert of traditional African American Spirituals.

About the March 15, 2009 Collegiate Chorale concert

I thought the Chorale sounded beautiful!  I really liked their selections. I think my favorite was O Magnum Mysterium, however those "Simpson's" miniatures were pretty neat!
Christina Smith
Choral Director, Stebbins High School

About the Piano Studio of Dr. Jackson Leung

The talent pool in the current studio at WSU is very impressive.

About the October 2009 Concert of the WSU Chamber Orchestra, directed by Dr. Jackson Leung.

I thought the orchestra sounded wonderful on the "Emperor!" I would have come backstage but you appeared to be (deservedly!) mobbed!
Professor Stephen Siek. Wittenberg University

On the Chamber Orchestra

The concert last night was remarkable. Votapek's playing is world-class from every angle. I was really bowled over! Thanks very much for making it possible for me and some of my students to hear such breathtaking playing. I continue to be amazed at your musicianship. Always conducting from memory, complete grasp of scores, fine command and control of your forces, and always expressive. Wright State is quite fortunate to have you.
