Now in its 3rd year, the Wright State Low Brass Festival is growing and will now include high school students, college students, amateurs, & professionals!  The purpose of the event is to promote the low brass instruments in southern Ohio through performances & masterclasses.  We are also excited to announce the first annual Miami Valley Low Brass Solo Competion!  The competition is open to high school & and college students and will be held on Friday, December 9th.  Click the Miami Valley Low Brass Solo Competition link above for more information!  The Low Brass Festival will feature the following:

  • Masterclasses and performances by hosts Dr. Gretchen McNamara & Dr. Ben Miles
  • Masterclasses and performances by guest artists Dr. William Mann (Assistant Professor of Trombone at Morehead State University) and Mr. David Saltzman (Principal Tuba in the Toledo Symphony and Adjunct Associate Professor of Tuba & Euphonium at Bowling Green State University).
  • Performances by the Festival Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble & the Festival Trombone Choir
  • Performances by the winners of the Miami Valley Low Brass Solo Competition
  • Vendors will include Cimarron Music Press, the Miraphone Corporation (with guest Roger Lewis), and more!
  • Cost of the event is $30 This covers all masterclasses, recitals, and events of the day.
  • Everyone should bring an instrument and participate in the clinics and workshops.
  • All festival events will take place on the campus of Wright State University in the Creative Arts Center.
