Marin Smith is a graduate teaching assistant in the Wright State University Department of Music, where she serves as the librarian for both orchestras at the university, and assists with sophomore level sightsinging. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Viola Performance.

Marin began playing the viola at age 11, and studied under both Nan Watson and Jean Blasingame throughout middle school and high school. She also spent all four years of high school in the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, three years in the Southwest Ohio Regional Orchestra, and studied at Interlochen Arts Camp during the summer of 2001.
Marin received her Bachelor of Music degree in viola performance from Miami University, where she studied with Mary Harris. She received a full tuition scholarship from the Department of Music, was a member of the Oxford Chamber Orchestra for four years, and served as principal violist of the Miami University Symphony Orchestra.

Marin has performed internationally in the Echternach Music Festival in Echternach, Luxembourg, and also in the cities of St. Petersburg and Novgorod in Russia. She has also recently played with the Middletown Symphony Orchestra and the Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Orchestra.
