Francis H. Laws, was an associate professor of music and assistant chair of the department, taught applied music (trombone and euphonium) and music education courses, performed in the Faculty Brass Quintet, conducted the University/Community Trombone Ensemble, and curated the Garett L. Wright Collection of historical and modern musical instruments and memorabilia.

Laws is actively involved in the Tubists Universal Brotherhood Association and holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from Texas A & I University and the University of Houston.
