Accompany Wright State's premier orchestra when they play in China

Wright State University has a long tradition of visiting foreign countries to give students and the community a chance to see new places and experience them through cultural emersion. You are invited to join the Chamber Orchestra on the latest opportunity to explore the world.

The Wright State Chamber Orchestra has been invited to perform in Hong Kong, New Territories, and Macau. On this performance tour, the orchestra will share the stage with several local music organizations and perform for a wide audience:

• The first concert will be in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the premier concert facility in Hong Kong. We will share this concert with the 60 member Hong Kong Youth Strings of the HK Music Office, and the winning orchestras from the Annual Elementary and High School Orchestra Competition in Hong Kong.

• Our next concert is with the Po Leung Kuk School System in the New Territories (a satellite city of Hong Kong). The orchestra will also perform a matinee performance at the Shatin Town Hall. The concert will be combined with elementary school choirs from the school system singing traditional Chinese folk songs with our orchestra.

• The tour will conclude with the orchestra traveling to Macau and performing with the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra in the Macau Cultural Center, the newest performing arts center in Macau.

• There are two opportunities to participate in this tour:

  • You can travel with the orchestra on their tour of Hong Kong and Macau. The price of this unique experience is $2,500 per person, double occupancy. Of this, $1,000 is a tax deductible gift.
  • There is also the opportunity to support the Chamber Orchestra. The orchestra needs to raise money for airfare, hotels and meals. By making a tax deductible gift, you can help the students have an unforgettable educational experience.

What you’ll do:

• Attend the Chamber Orchestra’s concerts while on tour
• Enjoy cultural tours of museums and historic sites in the Hong Kong and Macau areas
• Take a tram ride to Victoria Peak
• Visit Ocean Park in Hong Kong to see dolphins and pandas
• Sightseeing excursions to the ruins of St. Paul, Largo do Senado and Macau Tower.

The package price includes:

• Round-trip airfare from Cincinnati to Hong Kong, including taxes and ground transportation from the Hong Kong airport
• Three nights in Macau (sponsored by the Macau Youth Orchestra) and five nights in Hong Kong; hotel rooms , double occupancy
• All tax deductible contributions will be acknowledged in the programs for the tour concerts.
