Dear private teachers and music educators,
The Wright State University Music Department is proud to host its third annual chamber music festival for high school students. Students from throughout Ohio will gather for a weekend of coaching, performances, and new musical experiences.
A select group of students in strings and piano will rehearse intensively with their assigned WSU faculty mentors on Saturday, January 9th and Sunday morning the 10th, in preparation for a Sunday afternoon chamber music concert. Students will also be able to attend a variety of master classes and coaching sessions provided by the WSU faculty. An applied fee of $40 will cover the costs of the festival. Music will be provided for all groups, and each participant will receive a CD recording of the final concert.
In addition, WSU will sponsor a concerto competition, with the opportunity to perform with the Wright State University Symphony Orchestra.
Please recommend to your outstanding students that they apply for this festival. An application form is included in this brochure. Students must send a recording of a recent performance of two pieces or extended excerpts, using any standard medium (CD is preferred).
Applicants will be notified by December 15 of acceptance; at that time, the fee of $40 to cover the costs of music and a CD recording of the final concert is due. Detailed information on area hotels will be provided when students are accepted and preferences are known. There are a large number of hotels and eating facilities in the immediate Wright State area, and meals are also available at the Student Union on campus.
