Adrienne Danrich, soprano:
This Little Light of Mine

4:00pm Schuster Hall, Creative Arts Center

This Little Light of Mine: The Stories of Marian Anderson and Leontyne Price was written by Adrienne Danrich under a commission from the Cincinnati Opera. Ms. Danrich has created an inventive one-woman musical tribute honoring the ground breaking careers of these two opera legends. The concept of This Little Light of Mine is best described, according to Ms. Danrich, as a ‘live documentary’. She used as her model the format set forth by documentary movie producer, Ken Burns in his famous films The War and The Civil War.

Ms. Danrich provides the ‘live’ aspect of the show by narrating the story as well as singing various songs and arias that bring to life the music that Ms. Anderson and Ms. Price sang throughout their careers. Ms. Danrich documents the lives of these two legends by showing photos of the pair at various stages in their lives and playing audio excerpts of some of their most famous recordings. This Little Light of Mine utilizes a creative approach to presenting American History and has been well received by children and adults alike.

This program is presented through CELIA (Collaborative Education, Leadership and Innovation in the Arts)  a Wright State University Center of Excellence.
