The Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Ally (LGBTQA) Affairs website is designed to collectively bring together information about LGBTQA programs and services in one convenient location for Wright State University students, faculty and staff.
The LGBTQA Resource Room is a collaborative effort of the core team comprised of Counseling and Wellness Services, Office of Student Activities, Women’s Center, Rainbow Alliance, and Student Government.
The LGBTQA Resource Room Core Team is inspired by the WSU Diversity Statement which promotes “an environment in which every student may think, and learn, and grow without prejudice, without intimidation, and without discrimination” and the Wright State Equal Opportunity in Education statement which “prohibits discrimination against any person or group on the basis of race, sex (including gender identity/expression), color, religion, ancestry, national origin, age, disability, genetic (DNA) information, veteran status, military status, or sexual orientation.”
The Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Ally Affairs serves all Wright State students, staff, faculty, and alumni through four core tenets: Advocacy, Community Engagement, Education, & Support. The Office of LGBTQA Affairs accomplish these tenets by:
- Advocacy- Recommending & maintaining best Institutional policies and practices that ensure the holistic development and success of the LGBTQ & Ally communities at Wright State University.
- Community Engagement- Facilitating cultural programs, advising & supporting student organizations, and fostering relationships with the greater Dayton community.
- Education- Producing multiple educational opportunities for the Wright State Community to develop a stronger understanding of the complex intersections of Identity, Culture, & Social Justice Allyship.
- Support- Providing resources & referrals that assist and affirm LGBTQ & Ally Wright State students, staff, and faculty to persist to academic and professional goals.
