Certificate Programs

The Department of Urban Affairs and Geography offers two graduate certificate programs that build upon and complement the MPA curriculum. These certificate programs provide students with enhanced professional development in concert with the Master's degree.

Nonprofit Administration and Leadership Certificate

MPA students with a professional interest in nonprofit management may pursue a nationally recognized certificate sponsored by Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA). The curricular requirements of this certificate may be completed in conjunction with the requirements of the MPA degree and thoughtful selection of MPA elective courses. For more information concerning the requirements of this certificate and NLA program activities, visit the WSU chapter of NLA.

Geographic Information Science Certificate

Students with a particular interest in geography and/or public planning may pursue Certification in Geographic Information Science. Offered by the Department of Urban Affairs and Geography, this certificate program requires successful completion of five specific graduate courses, which may be taken as MPA electives, and production of a portfolio comprised of projects and research reports completed as part of this coursework.
