MPA Advising

Masters of Public Administration

MPA students attend a mandatory Fall Orientation session to become acquainted with each other, the faculty, the Department of Urban Affairs and Geography, and the MPA program. Each MPA student is assigned a faculty advisor upon acceptance into the program and meets with the advisor to discuss career objectives and to develop a program of study. The program of study identifies courses to be completed, the timing of these courses, and the planned date of graduation from the MPA program.

After completing four core MPA courses, students meet with their advisor to discuss performance to date and address any questions or concerns they may have. Students making less than satisfactory progress may be requested to meet with their advisor more often, and are required to meet with their advisor after completing seven MPA courses. Faculty advisors are available to MPA students throughout their enrollment in the program and beyond.
