Urban Affairs
Major/Minor
The study of urban affairs deals with cities and urban life within local, regional, national, and global contexts. Urban affairs is based on the premise that the urban environment must be studied and analyzed as a total system. Employment for graduates with a degree in urban affairs may be found in community development; judicial and police agencies; zoning, land use, and code enforcement; and economic development.
- Four areas of concentration are offered in urban affairs: criminal justice, community development, public management, and urban planning.
- A Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Urban Affairs are available. The Bachelor of Arts degree includes study in a foreign language and research methods. The Bachelor of Science degree includes courses in mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
- The Center for Urban and Public Affairs at Wright State is a regional leader in conducting urban research. Research teams of faculty, staff, and students collaborate to study various topics including solid waste management, housing and land use development, tax abatement use and policy, and ground water policy.
