Philosophy
Major
Philosophy is the study of the most basic presuppositions of common sense, the sciences, religions, and the arts. Philosophy, as a discipline, has three major fields of study: theory of knowledge (also called epistemology), theory of reality (also called metaphysics), and theory of value.
- The philosophy major is excellent preparation for those who seek a well-rounded liberal education; for those who plan to pursue further training in professional disciplines such as law, medicine, and theology; and for those who plan advanced study in philosophy.
- Because of differences among student interest and the ready availability of electives, each student follows an individualized program of study that is created in consultation with a faculty advisor.
