Art and Art History
Major
Visual art is a self-conscious response to life, the product of the individual creative process, and a human expression of thought, emotion, and values. Four options are available for students wishing to pursue a degree in art: Bachelor of Arts in art, Bachelor of Arts in art history, Bachelor of Arts in art history/art studio, and Bachelor of Fine Arts.
- Five areas of concentration are offered for students pursuing the professional studio Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) program: drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. B.F.A. candidates are required to have their work evaluated by faculty and peers.
- Students wishing to teach art in grades K-12 should complete the B.F.A. program and will then be required to complete the Professional Educator Program in the College of Education and Human Services to become eligible for licensure.
