Major/Minor

The African and African American Studies program promotes an understanding of African humanity, heritage, and contributions to world civilization, while encouraging the development of a global view that is essential for living in an increasingly multicultural society.

  • This interdisciplinary program includes courses in history, sociology, economics, religion, literature, and the visual and performing arts.
  • A major in African and African American studies prepares students for a broad array of graduate and professional programs and a broad range of careers.
