Dr. Peggy DesAutels

Dr. Peggy DesAutels, Associate Professor of Philosophy at University of Dayton, serves as a Principal Personnel for the LEADER NSF ADVANCE grant.  She conducts workshops on implicit bias, coordinates the Equity Advisors, serves on the Mentoring Committee, participates in University of Dayton’s LEADER meetings, and contributes to the monthly LEADER team meetings.

Peggy DesAutels has published three edited volumes on feminist ethics:  DesAutels, P. and R. Whisnant, eds. 2007 Global Feminist Ethics (Rowman and Littlefield);DesAutels, P. and M. U. Walker, eds. 2004. Moral Psychology: Feminist Ethics and Social Theory  (Rowman and Littlefield);DesAutels, P. and J. Waugh, eds. 2001. Feminists Doing Ethics (Rowman and Littlefield) selected as a Choice Outstanding Volume for 2003.  She has published a number of articles including “"Sex Differences and Neuroethics," Philosophical Psychology 23, 2010, pp. 95-111; "Musings: Experimental Philosophy," Hypatia: Journal of Feminist Philosophy 23.4, Oct-Dec issue, 2008; and "Psychologies of Moral Perceivers," Midwest Studies in Philosophy 22, 1998, pp. 266-279.

Peggy DesAutels received the B.A. from Principia College; M.S. in Computer Science, M.A. in Philosophy and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Washington University in St. Louis.  She currently serves as Chair of the Committee on the Status of Women for the American Philosophical Association (APA).
