LEADER Workshop: Challenges on the Tenure Track

Challenges on the Tenure Track Workshop was held October 13-14 at the University of Dayton. This workshop was made possible by a 2009-10 LEADER Mini-Grant Program award to Dr. Madhuri Kango-Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Dayton. Organized by Kango-Singh, the workshop featured a panel discussion, lunch meeting for pre-tenured faculty, and research seminar.

A panel discussion on Wednesday will kicked off the workshop, featuring the following panelists:

Dr. Janice Fischer, Professor of Molecular Cell and Dev Biology, University of Texas at Austin

Dr. Jayne Robinson, Professor and Chair, Department of Biology, University of Dayton

Dr. Paula Bubulya, Assistant Professor, Department of Biology,    Wright State University

Dr. Jennifer Seitzer, Associate Professor,  Department of Computer Science, University of Dayton

Dr. Madhuri Kango-Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Biology, University of Dayton

The panel discussion was open to the public.

Thursday’s activities began with a lunch meeting for pre-tenured faculty that focused on funding in the biological sciences. At 4:30 pm, the workshop concluded with a research seminar, “Endocytosis as a Regulator of Notch Signaling” held in conjunction with UD Department of Biology’s Biomedical Seminar Series. The seminar was held in University of Dayton Science Center Auditorium (Room SC 114) and was open to the public. For flyer details, click here.
