The Pioneer Awards: “Los Fundadores”:

Second Annual Amigos Latinos Award Winners

The Office of Latino Affairs is excited to continue announcing more of the well-deserved award winners for this year’s Second Annual Amigos Latinos Gala.

The Pioneer Awards: “Los Fundadores”: Given to those who have helped get the Office of Latino Affairs off the ground and moving. In fact, without their drive, support, and commitment, the Office of Latino Affairs would not exist. We are so grateful for their dedication, and for all the work they have done, and continue to do on our behalf. And the winners are…

Grace Ramos

Grace used to be a commissioner of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, and is now the first Latina on the Wright State University Board of Trustees. She also currently serves on the Premier Health Board Subcommittee on Diversity. In the past, she has recruited Latinos for the Air Force base and has been influential in serving as a pipeline for students in their connection to educational opportunities.

Robert Sweeney, Ph. D.

Robert is the Executive Vice President for Planning, and Secretary for the Board of Trustees at Wright State University. He has been given awards for his support in advancing the Latino community here in Dayton Ohio. According to the Associate Vice President for the Office of Latino Affairs, Tony Ortiz describes Sweeney as a major help who has fought for the Office of Latino Affairs to evolve into what it has become today.

Again, we would like to show our utmost gratitude to these two individuals. We owe them our success. Come out and support them by attending our Second Annual Amigos Latinos Gala. Register today at www.wright.edu/AmigosLatinosGala. Stay tuned for more awards to come.
