PLEASE NOTE: All workshops may be taken for graduate semester hour credit or as noncredit clock hours. If you are not currently enrolled in graduate courses and are interested in the workshops, please print the Special Graduate Application and Registration Form (PDF). Non credit fee is $125 per workshop (you will receive a Certificate of Attendance). In-state tuition for graduate courses is $564 per semester hour. Parking fee is $15 per registrant (nonnegotiable).

Using an iPad for Digital Story Telling in the K-4 Classroom

During this class we will discuss the management of using a single iPad or a class set in your classroom. We will examine various digital story telling apps (mostly free) and how to integrate them into your current curriculum. We’ll also discuss how it fits in with the new Common Core. Come prepared for great educational collaboration. Day 2 will be spent developing lessons, so come prepared to collaborate and create. If you do not have an IPad, several will be available for use.

This workshop focuses on formative, diagnostic, and summative forms of assessment. It especially focuses on using formative assessment as a process which increases teacher quality, thus increasing student achievement and learning. Practical formative technique examples applicable to all grade levels will be shared. Participants are asked to bring their favorite lesson; teachers will add practical assessment techniques into their lessons to increase student engagement. Teachers will leave the workshop with access to many resources and assessment ideas that can be used at any grade level.

During this class, we will begin with a review of Smart Board basics and then move into how to integrate it into our regular classroom routines. I will guide you step by step on designing an interactive game to use in your classroom. I will also show you how to use the record feature and several other tips and tricks. You will then be given the opportunity to design your own lessons to use on your interactive whiteboard. We will be using Smart Notebook 11 software. Please come prepared to collaborate and create with other educators during this two day session. A flash drive is recommended.

Teachers will walk away with a wealth of resources that will be posted on an easily accessible wiki. Participants are asked to bring their own class word lists and a laptop.
