How Do We Assess the Needs of Students?

Each quarter, we hold an assessment day, when new students are administered several diagnostic screens that help us identify both strengths and weaknesses. In addition, parents are asked to complete an information form, and students complete an interest inventory. When available, we also include current school information in our assessment process.

What Happens Then?

We make recommendations to parents as to whether we believe the Reading Center can help his/her child.

And Then?

If the student enrolls, we match the student with an instructor who will deliver one-on-one instruction to that child each week of the quarterƒspecifically based on the strengths and the needs of the student. We match with several things in mind, including the needs of the student, the expertise areas of the instructor, and personalities!
