B.S.Ed. degree Leading to Licensure
The Pre-K-3 licensure program prepares
students to teach children three years of age through
grade three. The Pre-K-3 license qualifies you for
employment in day care, nursery school, Headstart,
public and private preschools, and primary (K-3)
elementary grades. Students will be required to
work with children from birth through third grade
in Phases 1, 2, and 3. The program offers courses
in general education, professional education, and
curriculum content.
Most curriculum content classes should be
completed within the student's first two years. Some
of the courses must be completed before ED or EDE
classes may be taken. Admission to the College of
Education and Human Services is required before
Professional Education Courses may be taken. For
admission to the College of Education, the student
must have earned 45 credit hours, have a GPA of
2.5 or higher, and have a passing score, established
by the college, on the math, writing and reading
sections of the Praxis I test.
