Technology, Academic/Instructional Programs, and Services (TAPS)

TAPS provides experiences and opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to ensure their success in academe.

Services are free of charge to WSU - LC students

  • Academic Assistance/Tutoring/Study Sessions/Mentoring
  • Technology Assistance (TA)/Computer Lab
  • Disability Services

For students at all levels of academic proficiency, such opportunities include tutoring, study sessions, and independent/individualized instruction in conjunction with another department and/or through TAPS itself. These services are free of charge to any WSU - LC student who wishes to make use of them.Computers and materials allow students opportunities to improve their basic skill deficiencies or allow more advanced students to progress more rapidly in certain subjects or skills. In addition, TAPS assists disabled students in the realization of their potential by providing supplemental services on their behalf. Such services may include readers, scribes, extended testing arrangements, test proctoring, tutoring, and textbooks on CD.

Technology Assistance (TA) is an individualized instructional service in TAPS that provides students, staff, and faculty at the Wright State University - Lake Campus an opportunity to become familiar and comfortable with a variety of technological tools to ensure successful learner-centered experiences.  For example, using either a Windows or Macintosh environment, visitors can design and create original multimedia assignments, presentations, and displays to augment their academic and professional goals.

As a result, the Lake Campus community will become more technologically savvy and capable of being successful and competitive in our increasingly tech-dependent global society. Trained student lab assistants will be available to assist participants on a first come/first served basis. It is our hope that those acquiring these marketable and specialized skills will gain an edge for successful learning/teaching experiences, future employment, and lifelong achievement.

For staff, TAPS provides the opportunity for staff employed at Wright State University - Lake Campus to become acquainted with the latest technological tools to better serve the university community by checking out laptops and iPads. This service is provided in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where learning can vary according to the needs and desires of the participants.

For full-time and adjunct faculty, TAPS focuses on enhancing instructional practices and fostering an understanding of academic policies/procedures, as well as providing opportunities to become acquainted with the teaching expertise of other educators and colleagues at Wright State University and beyond. Our goal is that TAPS will facilitate the faculty’s exposure to different modes of instruction utilizing technology to teach the necessary skills needed by students in today’s world. We strongly encourage our educators to endorse TPAS by letting students utilize the technology on campus.
