El Jefe Updates: Bill Holmes

We reached the end of the year!

I want to recognize our students on their graduation.  This spring semester, we had about 200 international students and more who participated in one or more education abroad programs during their time at Wright State University.  Every year, we recognize these students through a special graduation reception hosted by UCIE. These students set themselves apart by showing amazing courage and hard work to be successful in another country.  Congratulations!

As summer begins, we are busily preparing for the arrival of new international students for summer and fall terms.  We will also be working with our faculty, partners, and providers to send over 200 students abroad.  This includes 15 faculty-led Ambassador Programs--Wright State's summer imprint on the world!

July 1st we will also begin the execution of our international enrollment plan.  I want to thank Mark Anderson, Thomas Fenton, Michelle Streeter-Ferrari, Dane Daniel, Stephanie Davis, Thomas Rooney, Naila Khalil, Rosemary Eustace, Cheryl Meyer, Dan Bertsos, Ciara Newsome, and Mary Ellen Ashley for their support over the past several months as we finalized the plan and explore opportunities together to increase international enrollments at Wright State University.

Enjoy your summer!
-Bill

Students Abroad Highlight: Courtney Jones

"I am currently an undergraduate history major at Wright State University. I was born in Germany which has brought about an overall interest in German and European history, along with an interest in the history of World War II. Studying abroad this summer will allow me to discover the countries and cultures I have spent my college career researching. My subject focus in history is on Holocaust and genocide studies. The study abroad program I have been accepted to is titled 'A History of Genocide.' This program will encourage me to expand my knowledge of my chosen field. I have always been afraid to leave the environment which I have become accustomed to, but today I am excited to be able to appreciate the world in a new way by taking this excellent opportunity." -Courtney Jones
